Barmaid Soap Company
Basic 2 Soapmaking- Using Colorants and The Basics of Creating Your Own Recipes
Prerequisite: Basic 1 Soapmaking Class or at least 3 successful batches on your own. I will not be teaching how to make soap in this class, you must already know how. Reach out if you have any questions about this policy.
Thursday May 10th 6-8 pm at Decoy Art Studio. We will be in the Nook.
3491 Dayton-Xenia Rd. | Beavercreek, OH 45432
Please note that Decoy Art Studio moved down the street in March.
Ages: 15+ (must individually meet prerequisite requirements)
In this class, you will take the skills you learned in Basic 1 to the next level, and learn how and when to add different colorants to your soap. There are many different colorants that are approved for use in soap, like micas, ultramarines, and liquid pigments to name a few. We will also go over many Natural Colorants as well.
There will be a great selection of colorants and matching scents, like Lavender essential oil with purple pigment, or green colorant with Peppermint essential oil. These are only a few examples! Students will then plan and create a beautifully colored and fragranced 1.5 lb. batch of soap to take home with them to cure, cut and use! Students will receive all of the handouts used in class, as well as the recipe used to make their soap.
After we have completed and cleaned up from our soaping adventure, we will sit back down and go over the basics of creating your own recipes. Some supplies are easier for us to get than others, it is good to be economical and know how to make soap using what you have on hand, or can easily purchase! Please bring a calculator, or phone to class, as we will be doing some math (don't worry, it is pretty basic). If you bring a phone with internet access, you will be able to check your work using a popular soapmaking calculator (if you do not have one, I will have a phone and an ipad with me).
We will spend some time at the end of class going over questions. I will also talk about recommended websites and books! Sometimes the class runs over a few minutes.
You must register by purchasing a spot(s) on our site (I can also send you an email invoice if you would rather order by email). Spots are limited.
Decoy Art Studio can only assist you with directions to their studio. They do not register students for soapmaking with Barmaid Soap and will have limited information about the class. We rent the space as a guest teacher. If you have any questions, please feel free to email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Registration closes a few days before the event, usually about 48 hours. There is no refund if you cannot come to class or if you cancel within 48 hours of the class. At this time, the class number is set and the listing is no longer available for your spot to be filled. Reach out and we may be able to come to another agreement.
A minimum of 3 students is required for the class to go on as scheduled. If at least three students do not sign up, your money will be refunded, and an alternate date will be set that you can sign up for. Thank you for understanding.
There is no refund if you do not show up for a class. When you purchase this class, you are agreeing to show up. Space is limited.
